Moving from Tiktoxic to Optimistic Masculinity

This 3 hr. synchronous training includes resources designed to provide educators and school administrators with information, activities, and tools necessary to support students in moving away from harmful perspectives.
“The scenarios [in the training] were a helpful way to think about real situations, and how to handle them in a professional manner.” – 2023 attendee
Dear Reader,
When thinking about our upcoming training, I did an image search for the title of our first version Tiktoxic Masculinity—which in and of itself wasn’t too bad—and then made the mistake of clicking on the associated links. I know, I know, you can see where this is going.
So instead of talking about the summer going by so fast, and our amazing curriculum trainings and those attendees, I find myself asking, “How can so many people be so misguided about the goal of calling out behaviors that could be labeled as toxic?” and “Why do so many people think that doing so labels all masculine and/or male bodied people as toxic?”.
It’s quite the opposite actually. Masculinity is great (I wear suits to conferences, love playing sports, 10 out of 10 dress in as much armor as the weather will permit at Ren Fairs, and abso-fuckin-lutely want to bow hunt a Thanksgiving turkey next year [we can email one on one about that later if you want to hear more]), AND femininity is great (so many reasons!), AND any body with any set of biological traits can—and does—possess elements of both femininity and masculinity. It’s when we use the westernized idea that “all male bodied people must be hyper masculine or they are weak/fragile/unworthy of love/sex” that we have a problem.
I’ll stop my mini rant there. You should join us on Sept. 23rd for our three hour synchronous zoom training Moving from Tiktoxic to Optimistic Masculinity for only $50 (and as always, never let the cost of our services stop you, reach out and we’ll help you get signed up.)
Another newsletter written and read. Yay us!

UN|HUSHED
If every person who read our newsletter made a $5 donation to UN|HUSHED—or even better became a monthly donor—we could not only sustain our mission to break the silence surrounding human sexuality for the next 3.5 years (See what I did there? It doesn’t say 4 years anymore. We’ve made it an 8th of the way through. We can do it together.), we could grow our staff and impact.
