A letter from Dr. Karen Rayne
Dear friends of UN|HUSHED,
I am very excited to share that I am stepping down as Executive Director, and moving into the role of Director of Education. My co-founder Nyk Rayne will be stepping into the Executive Director role, and I hope you will celebrate these changes with us!
Back in 2017, when UN|HUSHED was merely a twinkle in our co-founding eyes, we agreed that I should be the Executive Director so that I could facilitate introductions between the baby organization and the field of sexuality education. This path has served the organization well for these past seven years.
My most treasured work as a sexuality educator is in the writing and training of innovative sexuality education content. I love spending my days, as I am doing right now, delving in deep to new projects like our emerging UN|HUSHED at Home: Family-led sex ed project. I love connecting with educators, professionals, families, and others who want to ensure that people of all ages have accurate, relevant information about sexuality. I love thinking about where sexuality is going in the next five, ten, or even fifteen years, and creating sex education content to support those future people. I love connecting and collaboratively building that future with my colleagues. And I am ready to spend more of my time doing that work than on the daily running of an organization.
Nyk has been stepping into the role of Executive Director in increasingly bold and exciting ways over the past seven years. She is now deeply connected to the field in her own right, and as someone who has been in the business world for most of her adult life, I know she has the professional experience to guide the business of UN|HUSHED through the next several years and beyond. Please join me in welcoming Nyk into her new role! If you would like to celebrate her wit a donation, or by becoming a new monthly donation, I know she would be most delighted!
Thank you for everything you have done to support me over the past seven years—and I know you will continue to support Nyk as we move forward!
Thank you so much for your support during this transition.
Karen Rayne, PhD, CSE
