October Newsletter
October News
October is our favorite month of the year for so many reasons. The early mornings and late evenings are cool again here in TX and we’re excited to welcome back hoodie weather. We get to catch up with friends at colleagues who teach our curricula and see how things are going and offer planning and training support. October begins the holiday season, and we love Halloween, getting dressed up and consuming more than our fair share of sugar. And, most importantly, it’s our birthday month, so let’s talk about that first!

The first, So Much to Celebrate is an hour of fun facts about UN|HUSHED, what we’ve done this past year, and meeting our team (we’re super fun y’all). The second is our hit Sex Ed Trivia Night 2.0. We can’t wait to see you and celebrate.

AWSNA Queer Education Hour
Wednesday, Oct. 27th 5-6c
1 hr training
Last month our Executive Director spoke at the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America’s Queer Education Hour about how to make K – 8th grade education inclusive for all people who fall under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. “This isn’t just about making *sex education* inclusive, but making sure that children in elementary and middle schools feel that queerness is real, present, and celebrated in all learning spaces.” This month the focus is on educators supporting youth in grades 9-12. This is a free training for anyone associated with a Waldorf school in North America, and you can use the AWSNA portal to sign up.
Want to be a beta tester?
We just released a huge update on our website and we need volunteers to test new features, report bugs, and give feedback on the user friendliness of our site. Contact us at info@unhushed.org if you’d like to find out more.
Advisory Councils
We have spots open on our Curricula, Medical, and Legal Advisory Councils—and the 2021-22 review is about to be underway. If you’d like to volunteer to be part of the teams that review and update our curricula each year please apply here.
As always thanks for following along. We’d love to hear from you on our various social media accounts. Go like and share the things! You can also set up a monthly donation to UN|HUSHED to help support our work here. |
