UN|HUSHED is now a member of the World Association of Sexual Health!
I first learned about the World Association of Sexual Health (WAS) when I was teaching at the college level, and I fell in love with their ethics, drive, and approach to sexuality at the global level. My initial introduction was through their Declaration of Sexual Rights, on which I have based many a curricular activity!
Since then, I’ve come to know and love all of the work that WAS does. That work is based in their mission statement:
The World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) promotes sexual health throughout human life spans all over the world by developing, promoting and supporting sexology and sexual rights for all. WAS accomplishes this by advocacy, networking and facilitating information exchange of ideas and experiences, while concurrently advancing scientifically based sexuality research, sexuality education and clinical sexology with a trans-disciplinary approach.
I recently attended the WAS World Congress in Prague, Czech Republic, and I was thrilled that UN|HUSHED was voted in as an institutional member to the organization! To stand with so many amazing organizations in support of worldwide healthy sexuality is an honor, a privilege, and a responsibility.
The UN|HUSHED team has big things in store, big plans for the ways that we will support WAS’s mission from the local to the international levels. Our Middle School Curriculum will be published in about a month and a half, and our high school curriculum is in the planning stages. I am in conversation with two people who will hopefully translate the middle school curriculum, both linguistically and culturally, into Spanish and Turkish. UN|HUSHED is moving into the global education space in so many ways! My team and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
