We Stand With Science.
As a Lesbian Latina who believes that human sexuality is a basic human right, I am appalled by the hate and ignorance displayed during the new administration’s first day in office. Nothing done by our federal government on Jan 20th, 2025 will defend women, further our understanding of gender identity, or the biological nuances of what is medically true.
Here at UN|HUSHED, our organizational values are: rights, inclusivity, justice, connection, innovation, joy, development, and empathy. We will continue to provide schools and families with access to information that acknowledges sexuality as expansive, inclusive, kind, and pleasurable. Our curricula will continue to discuss gender as a social construct that includes many identities and biological sex as a medical terminology that includes female, male, and intersex individuals. And UN|HUSHED will remain an active member of the World Association for Sexual Health.
While the political theater of the new administration’s first day did nothing to advance human kindness, empathy, or wellbeing, much less the science of human bodies or sexuality, UN|HUSHED will continue to support everyone, no matter their gender, as we work towards a fully inclusive society.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
—Martin Niemöller
We must combat ignorance and hate with love and knowledge.
You can make a difference by donating to UN|HUSHED, as we continue to provide accurate sexuality education, the American Psychological Association’s work towards advancing the field of psychology, or Lambda Legal’s work that results in legal challenges to the federal government’s harmful executive orders.
